Marin City Baby First in 1947
The stork did a big favor to Mr. and Mrs. J. W. Burton, of Marin
City, when they delivered a tiny daughter at the San Rafael General
Hospital at 1:36 o’clock on New Year’s Day. The little girl, as the
first 1947 baby born in Marin County, is eligible for a veritable
treasure chest of gifts from local merchants, who, in co-operation
with The Marin Journal have arranged a “baby shower.”
An erroneous report first credited T/Sgt. And Mrs. William Spicer,
of ….(illegible)… Vallejo, with a daughter early New Year’s morning.
Today Sergeant Spicer regretfully confirmed Hamilton Field hospital
records that lists the time of birth at 3:10 the afternoon of
January 1.
Baby Diana Burton is the daughter of a young ex-service man and his
wife. Mr. Burton is an apprentice plumber at Ongaro’s in San
Anselmo.
It is difficult to tell who is more excited over Diana’s good
fortune, her parents, hospital attendants, or Dr. Alan Miller, who
delivered the young lady.
